Fun Run is even more fun! Now through the end of the year, we detour on Tuesday nights through Candlestick Lane. See the map at the end of the email.
Annual Award Nominations due NEXT WEEK! Please consider nominating your fellow clubmates for an award this year! The awards will be presented at the annual SWRC banquet in January. There are 13 categories, see the form for all of them. This year you can submit all of your nominations in one form :) However if you would like to submit them as you think of them, that's fine too. Please have all nominations in by December 12. Happy Running! https://goo.gl/forms/nDmW0VslDlIlIsr43
2018 Annual Banquet is January 28! Join us at the iHotel (1900 S 1st St, Champaign) for our annual meeting and awards banquet. We will also vote on a proposed Bylaws Amendment that night, as well as approving our next board. Register here, and please consider making a donation to help offset to cost of catering. See the menu and more details here.
Crazy enough to want to run a(nother) marathon? Or maybe you’re only half crazy and 13.1 miles sounds like plenty. Second Wind Running Club has a marathon/half marathon training program to help you go the distance! Sign up online through December 15 for $65 for an individual and $55 for each additional family member. After December 15, it will be $75 each. This program starts in January and ends at the Illinois Marathon. Your registration fee includes a year of Second Wind membership, a long sleeve tech shirt, and a post party, plus a 17 week training program with multiple levels for first time and more advanced marathoners. The program is over half full so don't procrastinate!
Want to be a pacer for spring marathon training? Sign up now! Find the form linked on the marathon training page or click here to go straight to it.
Interested in being vice-president of second wind? It's the most important position we still need a volunteer for! (general board members and race timing team members, and a build a better second wind coordinator also still welcome!) You must express interest by the second Tuesday of December (that's December 11). Thank you to everyone who has already volunteered! See the ad in the bimonthly newsletter, or find all of them here.
Newsletter deadline is December 15! Got something for the January/February newsletter? Send it to Nicholas Heller, newsletter editor, by December 15 at email@example.com. Send race results to firstname.lastname@example.org by then to guarantee inclusion. And, if you have a business that second winders should know about, this would be a great time to place an ad for the 2018 year!
Fun Run: Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. at the Armory on campus. For the month of December the route varies slightly to visit Candlestick Lane in Urbana (see attached map!). We meet at the Armory (4th and Gregory) until spring. The group meets and starts from the South West doors for up to 6 miles. The Relaxed-Pace Running Group (RPRG) does a 11-15 minute mile pace and walking is welcome. No matter your speed you'll be with other club members!
Post Run: Esquire in Champaign. Don't plan to run? Come out at 7:30. Got an idea where we should go? Or feedback (good OR bad) about a place we went? Email me!
Board Meeting: Tuesday, December 18 at 6pm at a board member's home. Please email if you are interested for the exact location!
Speedwork: Wednesday at 6pm to start around 6:10 . They will meet in the Armory (4th and Gregory) until spring. The group will run inside the Armory from now until spring. It costs $3 if you do not have a valid i-card or pass to enter (season passes can be a good option if you want to run inside as the weather gets bad). Come participate in a fun and different workout each week. Runners of all speeds are welcome to attend!
