Our fall pizza party is just around the corner - mark your calendars for Tuesday, October 24 and join us for club-provided pizza and soft drinks at Jupiter's at the Crossing starting at 7:30. (Show up early if you want - but a 7:30 start time means you can go home and shower and grab the rest of the family after the fun run!). This will follow the final Meadowbrook run for the summer, and we will switch to running from the Armory (4th and Gregory) until March.

The Allerton Park Trail Race is 5.7 miles on Sunday, October 29 at 9am! Costumes recommended, and a potluck brunch follows the race. A portion of proceeds is donated to the park. In order to protect Allerton Park’s trails, we are limited in the number of runners we can accommodate. Early registration is strongly recommended due to our runner cap! Sign up by October 22nd, 2017 for $25 and get a race shirt (only available with early registration - $20 with no shirt). If space is still available, register online October 23–27th for $25, and no shirt, or Oct. 28th from 12-5p at Body N' Sole Sports for $25 (also no shirt). No Refunds and No Race Day Registration.
Crazy enough to want to run a marathon? Or maybe you’re only half crazy and 13.1 miles sounds like plenty. Second Wind Running Club has a marathon/half marathon training program to help you go the distance! Sign up online through December 15 for $65 for an individual and $55 for each additional family member. This program starts in January and ends at the Illinois Marathon. Your registration fee includes a year of Second Wind membership, a long sleeve tech shirt, and a post party, plus a 17 week training program with multiple levels for first time and more advanced marathoners.
Fun Run: Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. at Meadowbrook Park in Urbana (at the intersection of Windsor and Vine - there is a parking lot and you can park on both sides of Vine as you approach the park). We will start out with a timed-ish mile running west and then south, followed by one or more two mile loops continuing in the same direction. Not sure you're up for a fast mile? The Relaxed-Pace Running Group (RPRG) does a 11-15 minute mile pace and walking is welcome. Both these groups go in the opposite direction, so no matter your speed you'll see other club members!
Post Run: Triptych in Savoy! (Note: it's byo food but I hear the beer is excellent). Don't plan to run? Come out at 7:30. Got an idea where we should go? Or feedback (good OR bad) about a place we went? Email me!
Speedwork: Wednesday at 6pm. This week, we will meet at the Centennial High School track in Champaign. Come participate in a fun and different workout each week. Runners of all speeds are welcome to attend and speedwork will alternate between meeting at Centennial and at Orchard Downs.
Saturday group run (marathon training): Saturday at 7am. This week we meet at the route 47 parking lot at Lake of the Wooda in Mahomet for up to 14-16 miles on the bike path. Even if you're not planning on running a fall marathon, there's a group run distance for you since all routes have an easy way to make a 3-5 mile run. Unlike our Spring training program, these runs are open to all club members. Check out the schedule here - routes are not final for all weeks, but starting location and distance options are listed. Nancy McCarty is this week's coordinator. Please note there is no "official" route since it is on the bike path.
