Congratulations to everyone who participated in an Illinois Marathon event this past weekend! It was great to see so many of you along the course, running, volunteering and cheering!

The Men's Beginning Running Group starts Tuesday, May 9. No experience required - but as long as you still consider yourself new to running and want the benefits and accountability of twice-weekly group runs and mentors to talk to during your run about the sorts of things you might see in an article entitled "10 things all new runners NEED to know", you're qualified! Just $20 if you're already a club member. Sign up here: http://secondwindrunningclub.org/civicrm/event/info?reset=1&id=23

Wondering what this year's Buffalo Trace race shirt will be? Register by April 30 to guarantee you get one!  The race is Saturday, May 13. It's 5 miles on lovely prairie trails at Lake of the Woods in Mahomet. Volunteers are also needed. Sign up online (both to run and help!) at http://secondwindrunningclub.org/races/buffalotrace!
Join us for the Countryside 10k at Witt Park, Sidney, IL on June 3 at 8 a.m. Run in the country and then enjoy the Sidney Dairy Barn ice cream sandwiches that you know you love! The Countryside 10k is now a Second Wind Running Club race and we are honored to continue the tradition of this favorite local race, which is sponsored by the Sidney Dairy Barn. Registration opens soon!

Fun Run:Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Meadowbrook Park in Urbana (at the intersection of Windsor and Vine - there is a parking lot and you can park on both sides of Vine as you approach the park). We will start out with a timed-ish mile running west and then south, followed by one or more two mile loops continuing in the same direction. Not sure you're up for a fast mile? The Relaxed-Pace Running Group (RPRG) does a 11-15 minute mile pace and walking is welcome. Both these groups go in the opposite direction, so no matter your speed you'll see other club members! Post Run: Esquire in downtown Champaign.

Got an idea where we should go? Or feedback (good OR bad) about a place we went? Email me! Speedwork:Wednesday at 6pm. Now outside! This week, we will run on the track at Centennial High School in Champaign. Come participate in a fun and different workout each week. Runners of all speeds are welcome to attend. This summer, speedwork will alternate between meeting for a track workout at Centennial and at Orchard Downs for some fun in the grass (not just hill repeats!). See you on the trails! Magdalena#secondwindrunning  Other future local races on our website: http://secondwindrunningclub.org/racecalendar

  • Men's Beginning Running Group Registration is open!

Help spread the word about the Men's Beginning Running Group! It's just $20 if you're already a club member, or $40 for nonmember (which includes membership). They will get a second wind shirt, an intro to running plan (participants don't have to be total beginners, but should be able to walk continuously for 30 minutes) and weekly group runs for 8 weeks, starting May 9. Some of our repeat members of the women's beginning group say they keep signing up for the accountability and knowing there will always be someone to run with! Ready to register that man in your life? (Or yourself?) Sign up here: http://secondwindrunningclub.org/civicrm/event/info?reset=1&id=23
